BOULDER CITY, NEVADA – The UT Tyler men's golf team opened up play at the Las Vegas Desert Classic with a team score of 314 at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
 
The Patriots finished Sunday in a tie for 14^th place in the 20-team field. UT Tyler holds head-to-head advantages over #27 Lincoln Memorial, #42 St. Mary's and #41 Colorado-Colorado Springs after 18 holes of competition in the 54-hole event.
 
#47 Colorado Christian was the lone team to break 300 on the day with a team score of 299 to pace the field. Missouri St. Louis's Ian McCrary was the only individual to finish the day under par with a three-under 69.
 
Junior Seth Campbell led UT Tyler with a 77 in round one, and sits in a tie for 26^th place on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Jackson Naeger and junior Carter Lewis posted rounds of 78 and 79, respectively, to sit in ties for 37^th and 48^th.
 
Freshman Luke Emerson rounded out the four-counting score with an 80, and senior Carson Whitton an 81.
 
UT Tyler will get started tomorrow morning with an 8 a.m. local time shotgun start.
