Jackson Naeger shot 71 and freshman
Luke Emerson a 74 to lead UT Tyler to a 307 in round two of the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Monday afternoon.
The Patriots sit in a tie for 16
th place on the team leaderboard with a 621 (314-307) team total following two rounds of play at Boulder Creek Golf Club. UT Tyler enters tomorrow's third and final round tied with #42 St. Mary's and five strokes back of in-region foe #41 Colorado-Colorado Springs.
#47 Colorado Christian fired a four-under par team total to stay in first place on the team leaderboard following rounds of 299-284 for a 583 total. Lee University's Beck Burnette shot 63 on Tuesday to hold the overnight individual lead with a nine-under par 135 (72-63) total.
Naeger jumped up 21 spots on the individual leaderboard after his 71 on Monday that featured three birdies and just a pair of bogeys. He will begin tomorrow's final round in a tie for 16
th place following rounds of 78-71 for a 149 total.
Emerson played a consistent round of golf as well Monday afternoon, carding three bogeys, a birdie and 15 pars to jump 13 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 47
th place. His 74 brought his two-round total to 154 (80-74).
Junior
Carter Lewis and
Seth Campbell rounded out the counting scores for the Patriots on Monday with rounds of 80 and 82, respectively. Lewis and Campbell both sit in a tie for 78
th on the individual leaderboard with 159 totals.
Senior
Carson Whitton rounded out the Patriot scores on Monday with a round of 83, and sits in a tie for 93
rd place with a 164 (81-83) total.
UT Tyler will wrap up play tomorrow morning at the Las Vegas Desert Classic with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
