ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. – The University of Texas at Tyler men's golf team wrapped up day one of the West/South Central Regional Preview with team scores of 305-306 at Foxtail Golf Club.
The Patriots total of 611 on day one sits in a tie for 18
th on the team leaderboard in a field chalked full of top-level talent from both the West and South Central regions. Freshman
Luke Emerson led the way for UT Tyler with rounds of 75-73 to sit in a tie for 36
th place with a 148 total.
#26 Cal State San Marcos and #19 Sonoma State both shot four-under as a team on Monday to tie atop the leaderboard following the opening two rounds with team scores of 572. Jordan Lee of Western Washington will carry the individual lead into tomorrow's final round at six-under par after rounds of 69-69.
Sophomore
Seth Campbell posted a solid opening round of 73 and then a 78 in the afternoon round to sit in a tie for 62
nd place with a 151 two-round aggregate score.
Junior
Carter Lewis, who recorded an ace on his second hole of the day in the first round on the 152-yard 13
th hole, carded rounds of 80-76 to sit alongside senior
Carson Whitton in a tie for 94
th place on the individual leaderboard.
Whitton rounded out the scoring for the Patriots with rounds of 77-79 for that 156 total alongside Lewis. Sophomore
Jackson Naeger withdrew from the tournament due to an injury.
Tomorrow's third and final round will get started with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
