DENTON, TEXAS – UT Tyler posted rounds of 291-302 to sit sixth after day one of the DBU Men's Classic on Monday afternoon.
Carson Whitton and
Seth Campbell highlighted the day for the Patriots with under-par first rounds at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch. Witton carded a four-under 68 in the morning round, and Campbell a 71 to pace the Patriots to the opening 291.
DBU's "B" team leads the field by 11 strokes after rounds of 286-291 for a 577 total, while Jack Wilson of DBU posted rounds of 69-67 to hold the individual lead with an eight-under total of 136.
Whitton and Campbell both followed up their under-par first rounds with scores of 76 in the afternoon's second round. Whitton sits in a tie for 11
th place with a 144 (68-76) and Campbell in a tie for 22
nd place with a 147 (71-76).
Sophomore
Jackson Naeger posted rounds of 77-73 for a 150 to sit in a tie for 31
st place, while
Luke Emerson carded a 75 and 77 for a 152 and a tie for 47
th place. Junior
Carter Lewis shot a pair of 77's for a 154 two-round score and a tie for 55
th place.
Garret Honeycutt and
Ryan Willis both competed as individuals for UT Tyler and shot 154 (78-76) and 159 (80-79) totals respectively.
Tomorrow's third and final round will get started with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
