AMARILLO, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's golf is nine shots under par and and six back of first place as they stand midway through their second round of action at the Ryan Palmer Foundation invite.
A lightning delay in the first round of action forced a delay that lasted nearly three hours, forcing play in the second round to be suspended due to darkness.
The Patriots shot a six under par 278 in the first round of the tournament, the third lowest round over the first 18 holes.
Preston DeSerrano led the way with a blistering 65 as he made four birdies and an eagle with no blemishes on the card. His round got off to a hot start as he played his first three holes in four under par.
Luke Emerson,
Preston Chabaud, and
Connor Carver each would round out the scoring with matching 71's. The trio made a combined nine birdies in their rounds to match their nine combined bogey's to ensure the strong start for the team.
Midway through round two,
Corbin Murray is two under par and Emerson is one under par. Both DeSerrano and Carver stand at level par with approximately 7-8 holes remaining in their rounds.
The Patriots are tied for the top score on par three's at a 2.94 average, and rank inside the top five in both par 4 and par 5 scoring average.
Round two will resume at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and the groups will continue into the third round immediately following the conclusion of the round.
