WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's golf stands in fourth place after rounds of 305 and 291 and is 16 shots back of DBU through the first 36 holes of play at the Midwestern State Women's Invite.
The Patriots were lead on the day by
Martha Laremark, who is fourth overall and just two shots back of the lead after a pair of 70's in her first two rounds. She ranks second in par four scoring at 3.85, fifth in par five scoring at 4.63, and is second in the field in birdies with nine.
Laremark led the way with her aforementioned 70 in round one as the only round under par for the Patriots. She made five birdies to three bogeys in that opening round to pace the Patriots.
Joining her was
Arnie Taguines,
Emmerson Doyle, and
Lucy Kate Smith in the first round, who shot rounds of 77, 79, and 79, respectively.
Round two would see another effort of 70 for Laremark as she made four birdies and an eagle to go along with four bogeys.
Karina Duran would respond from a first round 84 to shoot an even par score of 72 in round two behind two birdies and two bogeys.
The scoring would be wrapped up by Doyle and Taguines, who shot rounds of 74 and 75 as they combined for six birdies between them.
As a team, the Patriots are tied for the tournament lead in par five scoring at nine under par and an average of 4.78 shots. They are in a tie for fourth in par four scoring at a 4.29 average. They also rank first in birdies as a team with 30 through the first two rounds.
The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday as they look to make ground on DBU and St. Mary's who hold the top two spots on the leaderboard.
