Patriots Finish Third at National Preview, Three Players Finish Top 5

The Patriots shot a final round 300 on their way to a third place finish on Tuesday at the National Preview in Florida.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA – UT Tyler women's golf picked up their second consecutive top three finish after a third place finish at the National Preview at the Champion Course at PGA National.
 
The Patriots final round 300 was their best round of the event, and they would finish third to DBU who won the event and Lynn, who finished runner up.
 
UT Tyler with their two finishes this season, have now beaten 19 teams either ranked inside the top 25 of the WGCA Coaches Poll or receiving votes in the poll. Of the teams to beat them, DBU is ranked #3 in the poll, and Lynn is #6.
 
The Patriots were lead on Tuesday by the joint effort of Arnie Taguines and Martha Laremark, who fired matching rounds of 74. Laremark made 14 pars and one birdie, while Taguines made three birdies and 11 pars in her round.
 
Lucy Kate Smith and Karina Duran rounded out the scoring on Tuesday with rounds of 75 and 77. Smith made five birdies on the day, including three on her back nine to grind out the solid finish. Duran would add two birdies of her own on the back nine, shooting 37 on her way to the 77 total.
 
Also competing for the Patriots was individual Emmerson Doyle, who wrapped up her tournament with a 75 in the final round. Her round featured one birdie and 13 pars in a steady effort down the stretch.
 
Duran would finish in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard, just one shot back of the winner after a 224 for the week. Taguines and Doyle would finish just one shot back, totaling 225 for the week.
 
As a team, the Patriots led the field in par three scoring at 3.07 and were fourth in par four scoring at 4.43. They also totaled the third most pars and third most birdies.
 
Duran led the field in par three scoring at 2.83, Laremark was second at 2.92, and Smith was fourth at 3.00. Duran and Taguines were both second in par four scoring at 4.13, and Doyle was tied for the tournament lead in par five scoring at 4.83.
 
UT Tyler will now get a week off before taking on the Midwestern State Invitational on October 20 and 21st in Wichita Falls, Texas.
