WEST POINT, MISSISSIPPI – UT Tyler men's golf is in a tie for 8
th place after the first two rounds of action and are just nine shots outside of the top three.
Freshman
Preston Chabaud in his first collegiate event lit things up in the first round, shooting what equaled the lowest round of the day at five under par. He would follow up that low round with a 77, pulling him to an even par total through the first day of action. He made five birdies and 13 pars in his first round, and followed it up with 13 pars and a birdie in round two to place himself 12
th overall in the tournament and lead the Patriots.
Preston DeSerrano,
Luke Emerson, and
Corbin Murray would pace the Patriots with rounds of 73, 73, and 78 to help them to a first round 290. DeSerrano made a pair of birdies and 13 pars in his round while Emerson made a quartet of birdies to 10 pars.
The afternoon would see the Patriots fire a 309 as Murray shot 73 and was joined by DeSerrano with a 74. The pair combined for 7 birdies in that second round and a total of 19 pars. They would be joined in the second round scoring by the aforementioned 78 from Chabaud and an 85 from
Ty Krismer.
Tuesday's final round is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start as the Patriots look to make up ground and wrap up another top 10 finish to begin their year.
