CORINTH, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's golf shot a final round 284 to finish even par for the tournament as a team and seven strokes clear of third place at the DBU Women's Classic.
DBU would go on to claim top honors in the event, shooting 10 under par over the two rounds at their home event.
UT Tyler was paced on Tuesday by a brilliant effort from
Martha Laremark. The Swede carded a four under par 68 with five birdies and just one bogey as she climbed the leaderboard up to third place.
Arnie Taguines would also post a number in red figures, a one under par 71 on her way to a 10
th place individual finish. Her round saw four consecutive birdies on the back nine to offset three bogeys.
Karina Duran and
Lucy Kate Smith would round out the final round scoring, shooting rounds of 72 and 73, respectively. Smith made a pair of birdies and 14 pars in an even-keeled round, while Duran made three birdies and three bogeys on her way to an even par round.
Also competing for the Patriots was
Emmerson Doyle, who shot a final round 75.
The Patriots were represented individually by
Lilly Phelps and
Lindsey Li. Li would follow up yesterday's score of 71 with a 73 to finish 14
th, and Phelps fired an even par 72 on Tuesday to place 41
st overall.
The Patriots as a team played the par three's at a 3.02 average, the best in the tournament. They ranked second in par five scoring average and second in birdies.
Li led the field in par four scoring average at 3.85, and both Taguines and Laremark ranked in the top 10 in birdies.
UT Tyler will be back in action October 6
th and 7
th at the NCAA Division II National Preview held in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
