Men’s Golf Battles to a T2 Finish at DII Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya

Two Patriots placed inside the top 10 for the week as they lead the team to a huge finish for the program in the fall slate.

AKUMAL, MEXICO – UT Tyler men's golf finished the DII Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya in a tie for second at 903 shots for the week after a final round 303.
 
The Patriots finished 10 shots behind champion West Texas A&M and tied with CSU Pueblo for the runner up placement. The finish for the Patriots sees them take down #8 Oklahoma Christian, #14 Colorado Christian, #16 Cal State East Bay, #19 Colorado Mesa, (RV) Colorado School of Mines, and (RV) Cal State San Bernadino.
 
Preston DeSerrano and Preston Chabaud led the team yet again on Tuesday, firing rounds of 74 and 76, respectively. DeSerrano's final round featured a trio of birdies and 10 pars as he finished the week in a tie for fourth place at 221 strokes. Chabaud would stay steady yet again, making 12 pars and two birdies on his way to a 76 as he finished sixth place in the field.
 
The Patriots final round scoring was finished off by Luke Emerson and Blake Harwell, who shot rounds of 77 and 78 to lead the team to a final round 305. Emerson and Harwell combined for 27 pars between the par as they played steady golf. Emerson would place in a tie for 28th for the week, while Harwell finished in a tie for 35th.
 
Connor Carver would also represent the Patriots, shooting a final round 82 on his way to a tie for 35th place alongside Harwell.
 
UT Tyler finished the week as the top team on par fours, averaging 4.23 shots. They also led the field in pars, making 173 as a team.
 
The final tournament of the 2025-26 fall slate for the Patriots will take place October 14 and 15 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas. There, they will look to put a stamp on a strong fall season thus far.
