SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's golf picked up their first top five finish of the spring semester as they finished in a tie for fifth at The Rattler after a final round score of 296.
Junior
Preston DeSerrano led the Patriots all the way on Tuesday, carding a final round 72 behind three birdies and three bogeys to vault 15 spots up the leaderboard and finish 58
th.
Behind him was
Blake Harwell, who capped off his tournament with a two over par 74 as he carded four birdies in his final 18 holes to place 15
th and move up two spots.
Preston Chabaud and
Corbin Murray would round out the scoring, each shooting a three over par 75 as they combined for four birdies between them. Chabaud's round would see him close out with a 7
th place finish and become the high finisher for the Patriots. Murray's round saw him move up one spot into a tie for 27
th.
Jacob Holloway also competed on the day, closing out his tournament with a 79 to finish 64
th on the individual tournament.
Braden Bergman and
George Trappey competed as individuals for the week. Bergman tied for the lowest round in the field on Tuesday, shooting a final round 68 to vault 40 spots into a tie for 27
th. Trappey closed out his tournament with an 81, finishing 76
th.
The Patriots for the week posted the second best scoring average on par fives and also added in the third most birdies and third fewest bogeys.
UT Tyler will now get some time off before taking on the Las Vegas Desert Classic, one of the top tournaments of the year, from March 1-3 in Boulder City, Nevada.
