RICHARDSON, TEXAS – UT Tyler freshman Lucy Kate Smith has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after her first career collegiate victory at The Southern Invite.
 
The Prosper, Texas native was consistent all week, shooting rounds of 72, 72, and 74 to cruise to a two shot win in a field that featured nine teams ranked inside the top 50 in the Scoreboard Rankings.
 
Smith played a vital role in the tournament, helping the Patriots pick up the team win by 14 shots and earn their first win as a program since October 2020.
 
She led the field in par three scoring, averaging 2.83 for the event while also recording the most birdies in the field. She additionally ranked inside the top 10 in both par four and par five scoring.
 
Smith and the Patriots will now set their sights on The Rattler, hosted by St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas on February 23^rd and 24^th.
