SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's golf closed out The Rattler Invitational with a fourth place finish after matching rounds of 308 over the final two rounds.
The Patriots finished 46 over par for the week, 10 shots back of third place Midwestern State and 21 back of second place St. Mary's. Senior
Arnie Taguines led the team with a fifth place individual finish.
UT Tyler began the day by finishing up round two, where Taguines and
Lucy Kate Smith led the way with rounds of 74 and 75. Behind them were
Emmerson Doyle and
Martha Laremark, who shot rounds of 79 and 80 as the Patriots shot 308 as a team.
Round three saw the winds pick up and some tough scoring conditions ensued. Taguines and Laremark led the way in that third round, each making three birdies in nearly identical rounds on their way to shooting matching scores of 76.
Karina Duran and Doyle would round out the round three scoring, each shooting 78 on the day as Duran made a trio of birdies while Doyle added one to go with 11 pars.
Smith would add a 79 in her final round in a non-counting score.
Also competing for the Patriots were
Lindsey Li and
Lilly Phelps, both as individuals. Li finished her tournament with a 78-80, and Phelps shot 82-81 in her final two rounds.
Behind Taguines fifth place finish was the pair of Laremark and Smith, who each finished in a tie for 17
th. Duran would finish 30
th, and Doyle finished 45
th. Li and Phelps as individuals finished 55
th and 61
st.
UT Tyler now gets a week off of competition before heading to the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Florida at the Sandestin Resort & Club.
