BOULDER CITY, NEVADA – UT Tyler men's golf vaulted seven spots on the team leaderboard to finish tied for seventh place at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek GC.
The Patriots shot a final round of six under par 282, tied for the second lowest round in the field and their lowest as a team in the tournament.
UT Tyler, who is ranked #43 in the Scoreboard Rankings, finished ahead of #20 CSU East Bay, #18 West Texas A&M, #33 Missouri-St. Louis, #7 St. Mary's, #31 Colorado Christian, #10 CSU Pueblo, and #16 Central Missouri.
The Patriots big final round push was sparked by
Jacob Holloway and
Blake Harwell, who shot rounds of 68 and 69. Holloway made five birdies and an eagle in his final round, going 35-33 in his nines. Harwell was one shot back, making five birdies and 11 pars in his round as he went 34-35.
Preston Chabaud was also under par on Tuesday, shooting a one under par 71. His round also featured five birdies along with nine pars.
The scoring was wrapped up by
Corbin Murray, who shot 74 in Tuesday's final round while making two birdies and an eagle.
Preston DeSerrano closed out his tournament with a 75.
Braden Bergman, competing as an individual, finished with a 74.
Harwell was the high finisher for UT Tyler, using his final round to vault to a tie for 11
th on the individual leaderboard. Chabaud would finish in a tie for 42
nd, and the trio of DeSerrano, Murray, and Holloway all finished tied for 60
th. Bergman finished in a tie for 76
th.
UT Tyler will now get a week off before returning to action at the Oak Tree Invitational on March 16-17 in their second to last regular season event.
